What we do
Programs built around every animal
From emergency rescue to long-term conservation, our programs address the full spectrum of animal welfare — in homes, communities, and the wild.
Our rescue and care program responds to animals in crisis — from strays and surrenders to victims of neglect and abuse. We partner with local shelters, veterinary clinics, and a network of dedicated foster families to provide emergency medical care, rehabilitation, and placement into loving permanent homes. Since our founding, we have helped place thousands of companion animals and continue to expand our capacity to respond faster and reach further.
Over the years, Animalkind founder Eli Abasi encountered cardinals that became disoriented during snowy weather, collided with windows, and were left stunned and unable to fly. Eli would gently move them to safety, offer them water, and watch over them until they were strong enough to fly again. Cardinals play an important role in healthy ecosystems, from controlling insects to dispersing seeds and contributing to the natural food web. Giving these vulnerable birds a safe place to recover allowed them to return to that ecosystem. For Animalkind, these moments reflect a simple belief: when the human and animal worlds intersect, compassion can make that intersection safer. Sometimes protecting wildlife begins with noticing—and giving a small life another chance to fly.
Lasting change requires more than rescue — it requires better laws, stronger enforcement, and a culture that values animal welfare. Our advocacy team works with legislators, city councils, and regulatory agencies to advance animal protection policies at the local, state, and national level. We also support communities in understanding and exercising their rights to protect animals in their neighborhoods.
